Privacy Policy

SimplyStudy (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates simplystudy.net and related apps (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we share it, and how you can control it.

By using SimplyStudy, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

If you purchase Premium, SimplyStudy sells the subscription and Stripe processes payment as our payment processor. See section 5.

2. Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we store your email address, display name, and a hashed password. We use this to authenticate you and keep you signed in.

Study progress and library

When you are signed in, we sync progress data to our servers so you can continue across devices. This may include XP, streak, last study date, preferences related to study, and library items (saved lessons and related study content). Guest library items remain on the device where they were saved unless you sign in and sync.

AI and feature requests

When you use AI features (lessons, Ask AI, games, AI Coach, My Material, Notes Coach, Spot the Lie, Listen, and similar), the text, notes, or files you submit are sent to our API and processed by third-party AI providers (such as OpenRouter and Cloudflare Workers AI) to generate a response. Do not submit sensitive personal data (passwords, government IDs, health records, financial account numbers, or others’ private information) that you would not want processed for this purpose.

Uploaded materials

If you upload PDFs, images, or paste notes for study kits or Premium tools, we process that content to provide the feature you requested. Content may be temporarily held for processing and stored where needed to deliver saved kits or library items associated with your account.

Guest usage

If you use SimplyStudy without an account, we may associate daily usage limits with your IP address (for example, guest:<IP>) to prevent abuse and enforce fair-use quotas.

Premium and billing status

We store whether your account has an active Premium entitlement and related subscription status needed to unlock features. We do not store your full payment card number on SimplyStudy servers.

Feedback and support

If you send feedback or contact us, we store your message and (if signed in) your account email so we can respond or improve the Service.

Technical and security data

Our hosting and API infrastructure may automatically process technical data such as IP address, browser type, request timestamps, and error logs to operate, secure, and debug the Service.

3. Local storage on your device

The app uses localStorage and sessionStorage in your browser to store preferences (language, theme), your sign-in token, cached responses, chat history, and similar data. You can clear this through your browser settings.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies at this time. Essential storage is required for the app to function (sign-in, preferences, guest limits).

4. How we use your information

• To provide, operate, and improve SimplyStudy’s learning features
• To sync progress and library content across your devices when signed in
• To enforce fair-use limits, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the Service reliable
• To manage Premium access and respond to billing-related support questions
• To respond to feedback and support messages
• To comply with legal obligations

Lawful basis (EEA/UK users): We process account and service data to perform our contract with you (providing the Service). We process security, abuse-prevention, and improvement data based on our legitimate interest in operating a safe, reliable service. Where required, we rely on consent (for example, optional communications).

5. Payments (Stripe)

Premium subscriptions are sold by SimplyStudy. Payment is processed by Stripe (Stripe Checkout and related billing tools) as our payment processor. When you check out:

• Stripe collects and processes payment details (card, digital wallets, etc.) according to Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
• Stripe may share with us information needed to fulfill your purchase (such as email, country, transaction/subscription IDs, and purchase status) so we can unlock Premium on your SimplyStudy account.
• Tax calculation and remittance may be handled through Stripe’s tax tools where we have configured them.

SimplyStudy does not receive or store your full card number. For payment privacy questions that concern card processing, review Stripe’s policy linked above or contact us.

6. Sharing and selling

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run SimplyStudy, and only as needed to provide the Service, for example:

• Hosting & infrastructure (e.g. Cloudflare Pages / Workers / D1)
• AI providers (e.g. OpenRouter and model providers they route to; Cloudflare Workers AI)
• Payments (Stripe, as payment processor)
• Email or support tools, if we use them to reply to you

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer (with notice where required).

7. Data retention

We keep account and progress data while your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove or anonymize personal data from our servers within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records for legal, security, tax, or billing purposes (including payment records processed by Stripe).

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing.

• Profile: You can update your display name in the app.
• Account deletion: Signed-in users can delete their account from Profile → Delete account (password required where prompted). This removes your account and associated server data we control. Local browser data on your device should also be cleared by the app where possible; you may also clear site data in your browser.
• Export / other requests: Contact us via in-app Feedback or info@simplystudy.net.
• Billing data processed by Stripe: For some payment records, you may also need to use Stripe’s customer portal or contact us so we can help with Stripe-held billing data.

EEA/UK users may lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. We encourage you to contact us first so we can help.

9. Children

SimplyStudy is intended for learners generally aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent where required. If you believe a child has provided us personal data improperly, contact us so we can delete it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and server-side access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.

11. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own (including the United States and the European Union) through our infrastructure, AI providers, and Stripe. Where required by law, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards.

12. AI processing notice

Content you submit to AI features is processed to generate study materials. AI providers may process inputs according to their terms. Do not upload confidential exam papers or personal data of others without a lawful basis. AI output may be wrong — see our Terms of Service.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when we add features or change how data is handled. We will update the effective date at the top. Continued use of SimplyStudy after changes means you accept the updated policy. For material changes, we may provide additional notice in the app or by email where appropriate.
